So a few weeks back
Tyler gave Ellory a bath
while Kale and I went grocery shopping....
She just can't not be cute.
It's impossible.
Tyler went on his last away
game with the football team
this season to Vancouver.
This was the view from his
hotel room:
Nana and Grandpa sent us
a much anticipated
Halloween package!
They are so sweet to send
us packages!
They sent treats for everyone,
books for the kids,
cute Halloween pajamas for the kids,
a Halloween outfit for Ellory,
the movie Dracula Untold for Tyler and I,
and Kale's Halloween costume.....
He wasted NO time putting it on,
and then continued to go
about his day.
Goofy kid :)
This is proof that they love each other,
in case in the future they forget:
Kale and I made a countdown to
Halloween chain.
He was very proud of it.
And this is just a picture
of them because I can:
Kale helped me make some
Halloween cookies!
Pumpkin carving is always fun.
Kale helped me clean
out the guts.
Then, he decided what the faces would be.
He said he wanted one to be a
vampire,
and one to be silly.
Ellory ran around being adorable
with no pants on.
Finished!
Boo!
Look at my cute family
On October 22 my lovely grandma passed away.
She had pancreatic cancer,
so we knew it was coming,
but it still came too quickly.
I was unable to attend her funeral,
which was on October 28th.
It was hard for me to not be there,
for many reasons.
So, I decided to play a card game she
taught me on one of her visits to Iowa
when I was in high school.
I love her so much,
and I miss her already.
It continues to amaze me how,
despite our hardships,
life continues on,
whether we want it to or not.
And so,
that night we went to our ward
Halloween party.
Kale was the coolest
Captain America there!
The party was chaos,
but Kale enjoyed getting his hands
on as much candy as possible!
I went to a costume swap at our
public library and found this cute
little zebra costume for Ellory.
She wouldn't keep the hood up,
otherwise it would have been even cuter.
And then, it was Halloween!
Tyler had a home football
game to get to,
so the kids and I had some
time to kill.
We got our costumes on
and Kale and I had some fun.
I had told Kale I would be a bad guy
for him to catch,
so I went with Burglar.
Ellory was refusing to cooperate....
too busy watching Word Wold.
We went with our friends,
the Marshes,
to the Gilbert House.
It's a Discovery Museum for kids,
and they were doing a fun little
trick-or-treat activity.
The Gilbert House had a ton
of themed rooms
full of things for the kids to do.
This room was the Aviation room.
The theme from Top Gun was playing
in the background.
Those two tubes in the above picture
were wind tunnels.
Kale and Lyda always
have a good time together!
The room in the picture below
had tubes you could
mix around to make tunnels for ping-pong
balls to travel through.
Kale loved that room.
By the time we were ready
for trick-or-treating,
it was POURING.
But we had been talking about
trick-or-treating with Kale
for weeks,
we couldn't cancel.
So, Kale and I went out into
the downpour, armed with an
umbrella,
and Tyler and Ellory chilled in the car.
It was so much fun!
Kale was a trooper,
and he got a lot of candy in
a small amount of time
because all the houses
gave him a handful of candy
rather than just one piece.
Then we headed home
to put on dry clothes and
sort through Kale's candy.
And Ellory was just happy
to not be in the car seat anymore:
Happy Halloween!
