Outdoor Adventures

I've been meaning and meaning and meaning
to update the blog.
So here we go.
Happy belated Star Wars Day!
Kale and I celebrated by
getting him a 4 dollar Star Wars shirt,
Star Wars cereal,
Lego Star Wars movies,
and making some silly
Yoda ears
and Leia buns.
It was a good day.

Oh ya, and we played the

Lego Star Wars video game
on the computer together.

My visiting teacher brought
me some seeds a while back,
and then we happened to have
a Family Home Evening lesson
on Faith being like a seed,
so we planted one of the seeds!
Kale was super excited
when we saw it starting to grow:

I was kinda shocked.
Well, since then we had
this crazy heat wave and
I kept forgetting to water
the plant,
and now it's dead.
So, we'll have to try again.
Talk about a great visual
on what happens to our
Faith when we forget to take
care of it every single day.

Mother's Day was lovely.
My family spoiled me rotten.
They gave me all 6 Star Wars
movies on blu-ray!
Plus it has like 2 or 3 hours worth
of bonus features.
And they also gave me an itunes
giftcard.
I think they know me pretty well :)
And then they made me a delicious dinner,
of which I did not have
to make or clean up.
So, great day!

So it got pretty hot
there for spell.
Thank goodness for splashpads.
My favorite part about splashpads?
They're FREE.
On this particular trip
we went with some friends.
I was able to pick some friends up
and they could all fit in
my car!
5 car seats and 2 adults.
It was cozy :)

We brought some of our cups to play with

She was the cutest one there,
for sure ;)

Time for a little snack break:

Oh fun times, fun times.
This past Saturday it was 100 degrees,
literally.
So we decided to go up to
Silverton and hike to some
pretty waterfalls.
We got to the parking lot for
one of the trailheads
and discovered that they
weren't charging to park there
that day!
So, the kids ate their lunch
in the back of the car
(I love this car!)

And then we headed out!

Ellory was SUPER mad that
we weren't letting her play
in the water.
Like ultra tantrum meltdown.
I had to carry her for the first 15 minutes of the
hike because she was just too
distraught to do anything.
Silly girl.
It was a nice short hike,
perfect with little ones.
And the waterfall was beautiful.

This is from up above it:

And then we got to go behind/underneath it:

The family that hikes together,
survives together.

The kids loved drinking
out of the camelback

Tried using the timer
on the camera.
They are a little dark,
but I still like them.

Then we headed back to the
car so we could drive to
a different trailhead.
This waterfall was called
Winter Waterfall.
Kale was very concerned
that it would be too snowy
and icy and cold for
us to see the waterfall.
Oh little ones.

Tyler brought his binoculars.
The kids fought over them.

 Ellory thought she was pretty
cool when Tyler
put her up here:

And then Kale needed a turn,
of course.

And then I went down to
touch the waterfall.

And then we were done.
It was hot and we were all tired.
So home we went!
And we just tried to survive the heat.

Here are a few more funny things
the kids have said:

Sometimes Kale will say something
that is just gibberish
and then ask me to write it up there.
That's not how it works pal.

Look at this cool lego thing
Kale built by himself!

Look how cute this
brother and sister are!

And that's about it!
Tonight Tyler and I are
going to the NCAA Track Championships
in Eugene.
We're pulling for Shaq Walker from BYU
to win the 800,
as well as any other BYU competitors.
I'm excited to be in the place
where my dad won his
Championship race in the steeplechase!!
