No, no, no, Santa!

It's Christmas time!!!!!
Nothing beats Christmas.
You've got family.
You've got friends.
You've got traditions both sacred and silly.
And everyone is just a little
bit nicer.
And, of course, you've got the Christmas music!!!!

Well, around here we've
really been getting into the
holiday spirit...

Kale has taken on the tactic
of hiding in a corner
so he stays out of trouble
and in Santa's (and mommy's)
good graces.

And of course he
flashes those
blue eyes at me and I melt.
I'm sure Santa does too.

Kale loves to turn the Christmas lights on and off.
He also loves to touch the lights,
and shake the tree;
oh, and eat the fake "needles"
that fall off the tree.
Goober.

He looks a little bit creepy here...

This past Saturday was our
ward Christmas party.
There was tons of yummy
food to eat, and I would say close
to our whole ward showed up.
Part way through the
program, Santa came to visit the kids.
And so, we thought we'd
introduce Kale to him for the first time.....

At first he was unsure...

He had some concerns,
so he looked to Dad
for guidance...

Santa let him play with his bells,
but Kale knew they
weren't the real ones like
on Polar Express....

And then he decided he really just didn't like
this guy.
Poor kid was shaking like a leaf!
Classic Christmas picture though :)

And that has been
our Christmas celebration thus far.

In other news,
I asked Kale what he'd like
for breakfast this morning,
and both Tyler and I swear he said,
"Hmmm, my poop."
Hilarious!
He's growing up fast.

Merry Christmas everyone!

Gobble Gobble Ham!

Once again I am not prompt in
blogging about Thanksgiving.
That's just my M.O.
Better late than never, right?

Our Thanksgiving was great!
Doug flew up Wednesday night
and stayed with us until
Monday morning.
We were so glad to have him!
Thanksgiving dinner was delicious
and I definitely ate WAY
too much food.
But that's what Thanksgiving is for, right?

Unfortunately, I don't have any pictures
of Thanksgiving day
because I discovered the
batteries were dead
just as we were sitting down to eat.
I know, classic Bryn.
You'll have to just trust me that
I didn't burn anything.

Friday we went to Seattle!
I have wanted to go to Seattle
for the longest time.
It might be because of Sleepless in Seattle,
I don't really know.
I was not disappointed.
The drive up there alone was incredible.
There is just nowhere else like it.

We went to Pike's Market and looked out on the bay.

we
drove
past
the
Space
Needle.
Kale
got
sleepy.

Kale and Grandpa did some fun playing outside

Grandpa got Kale an awesome Christmas present!

We put up our Christmas tree.

Kale was fascinated by the lights.

Kale quickly assessed where the
tree was plugged in.

Bedtime stories with Grandpa!

Handsome Boy!

Silly boys.

Thanks for coming Grandpa!
We had tons of fun!

Good Grief!

Well well, what a wonderful October
we had!
There was plenty of time for playing outside...

But there were also lots of rainy
days where we had to
find other ways to
keep entertained....

And then there was Halloween.
I don't know about ya'll,
but I LOVE Halloween.
It might be the costumes,
it might be the candy,
it's definitely not the scary movies,
I don't know if I'll ever know
exactly why I love it so much,
but this year was about as good as
any I've ever had!
(Except for maybe the year I was a
blade of grass.
Just kidding, that one was depressing.
It was the last year I was allowed to
go trick or treating but Halloween
was on Sunday.
Hence, the not so clever
costume idea)

Anywho, we went to our ward's
Halloween party the Saturday
before Halloween.
And we had a great family costume:

PEANUTS!
Kale was the perfect Charlie Brown,
and Tyler and I are very proud
of that Snoopy head :)
My costume wasn't so obvious.
I had to stick with Tyler and Kale,
otherwise no one had a clue
who I was.
(I'm Lucy, btw)

Notice the crocodile tear?
It's because we took him
into the Spook Alley and he got
super scared.
I know I shouldn't laugh,
but I did.

We took him trunk-or-treating.
For those of you who don't know,
trunk-or-treating is when people
decorate their car trunks
and kids simply go around the parking
lot from car to car claiming their candy.
You would think they would say,
"Trunk or treat!" when they
get to each trunk, but they don't.
Kale didn't say anything; he just stared.

It was a lot of fun, especially
since so many people
showed up with really cool costumes.

On the actual day of Halloween,
I put Kale in his Charlie Brown
attire once more,
and I just wore Halloweeny stuff.
It was a rainy and cold day, so I
decided not to try and take
him trick or treating, especially since
he doesn't enjoy it yet anyway.

Sooo enthused...

He did some real good snuggles
with daddy.

And then he started getting cheesy!

This is his "I'm so cool, I lean."
He's gonna be such a
ladies man.
Oh dear.

He started to get mad because
I wouldn't let him have
the camera...

But then the binky saved the day!!!

This is his new favorite place.
Either behind the couch
or on top of the heater.
Just as long as he can see out that window,
he's good.

Trick or Treat!!!!

Then it was P.J.'s time.

He thinks he's so funny.
Little Schnickerbacher!

And that was our Halloween.
Overall, we had a great time.
We kept talking about how fun it
would have been to take him to
see all his cousins
all dressed up.
Hopefully in a couple years
we'll get to do that!

And now, to properly say goodbye
to October,
Here's a picture from our
first November outing:

Goodbye October!
We had a blast :)
