So, Tyler and I have been playing on a co-ed intramural softball team and tournament time has begun! Our team was bumped up to the upper bracket for tournament which is far from what we wanted but is somewhat of a compliment. We lost our first game so we are now in the loser's bracket which is fine by me. Yesterday we had our second game. It was epic. At one point we were down by a large sum of points. However, in the final inning, we were down by four and we were last to bat. Tyler was our fifth runner in to win the game. Then, since we won we had to play another game right away. I never knew how tired softball can make you, or maybe it was just standing in the outfield under the blazing sun for an hour - who knows. Well this game was just as epic. We were down by quite a bit, but the last inning came, we were down by four, and we were last to bat. Doesn't this seem familiar? And what do ya know? We Won! It was a lot of fun and we are excited to play our next game on Saturday morning, even if it is at 8:15.
Tyler is also on a men's softball team with his quorum and they are doing great. It's a lot of fun to watch them with all the other wives. They recently won their first tournament game and I'm not sure when their next game is. Hopefully they can go all the way and win that t-shirt!
Other than softball, our lives have been pretty quiet. I finally went to the doctor about my back and found out from the physical therapist that I simply have a weak back and I have to keep up on keeping my core strong or else it's just always going to hurt. So, in a nut shell, I found a much better motivation for me to be consistent in staying in shape. Also, Tyler hiked Mt Loafer with his sister and her husband. I stayed home with their kids and my mother-in-law because of my back. Apparently it was a doozy, but Tyler said he enjoyed it and he brought me back some flowers. So cute :)
Tonight we are having a date night: bowling at the wilk (yes, it will get competitive) and then dinner at Brick Oven. (and then hopefully a movie at home, but we'll see.) Should be a good night!

Our first blog. How adorable.
Hello one and all, and welcome to the blog of Bryn and Tyler Patterson. It's great to finally be here. We feel so...adult-like now to be on the blogging scene. We are mostly and completely here because of one small conversation that happened about fifteen minutes ago. It went something like this:
Bryn: What are you looking at?
Tyler: Andrew and Molly's Blog.
Bryn: Oh, I wanna see!
Pause
Bryn: That's really cute. Maybe I should do a blog of us?
Tyler: Ya you should!
Bryn: Really?
Tyler: Well ya, it's what all the wives do isn't it?
And so our blog has been born. Tyler is out shooting some hoops with Andrew right now, and so here I type in this lovely air-conditioned room. Tyler said he'd pay me to wash the dishes while he's gone but I think I'll do this first.
Life is very slow paced for us right now. Both of us are just working and done with work by 2:30 every day. We've done a hike and camped at the Uintas which was great and actually I'll just do a post on that and add some pictures. Perfect!
So, last Thursday we left for the Uintas, and for those of you in Iowa the Uintas are a mountain range in northern Utah. We went up with our friends Mike and Anne Colver and Andrew. We drove around to a few lakes looking for a spot and finally settled on Mirror Lake. It was absolutely beautiful! I've never seen anything like it. I still can't get over the sites we saw. Thursday night we set up camp and had a delicious hamburger and hot dog dinner. (I downed four hot dogs. Woot!) Once the sun started to go down we realized just how cold it was going to be....FREAKIN COLD!! I didn't bring enough warm clothes. I was wearing Tyler's clothes for cryin out loud.
Friday morning Tyler and I got up nice and early, he built a fire and made breakfast burritos for everyone while I had some delicious bacon. Once we'd all warmed up we headed for the lake Mike could go fishing. Tyler, Andrew and I explored the surrounding wood and found beautiful little streams forming mini-waterfalls and possibly a bald eagle nest.
Friday afternoon is where it got interesting. We left to go on a hike on a trail we had seen the beginning of on Thursday. From the beginning it was a cool hike for sight seeing, but about 1 minute in it started to rain. Now anyone who knows me will know that this made the hike better for me, but anyone who knows Tyler will know that this ruined it. It started to rain harder and then snow was mixed in with it so we booked it back to camp to take cover in the tent and play some cards. After two hours of rain and no let up, we realized that our tent was starting to leak. Wonderful! Eventually the rain let up and we had a delicious dutch oven chicken pot pie dinner with peach cobbler. Not long after we went to bed it started to rain again and needless to say a lot of stuff got wet.
Saturday morning came, and although Andrew's tent kept him nice and dry, the rest of us were ready to pack up and leave. Once things had dried enough we did just that. And when we got home it was crazy hot and we couldn't believe how just and hour and a half before we weren't all that warm.
So that's a pretty sufficient update. The first few pictures below are our hike to Bridal Veil Falls and the rest are Uintas. Enjoy!
